Today your child was treated to a program presented by the Museum of Science called Animal Habitats. The museum brought in live animals for the children to observe for clues that determine the animals' ideal shelter and food. We observed an American Toad, a Snapping Turtle and a Prehensile Tailed Skink. Students were then challenged to choose the suitable habitat for each animal.
Children were also given an opportunity to touch skin, bones, and feathers so they could feel some of the characteristics that help each animal survive. Ask your child about what they experienced as well as the predictions and inferences they made about the optimal habitat for the animals they saw.
Many thanks to TESPTO for funding this wonderful experience!

As part of our Spring Organisms Unit we will have classes taught by Mr. Prazar. Weather permitting, those classes will be held outside near the Audubon.
On Friday, May 6th we plan on going outdoors to explore. Please remember to dress your children appropriately for this adventure. We recommend they wear closed-toe shoes, such as sneakers; light colored shirts with long sleeves; long pants with socks they can tuck into their pants, hats, coats and gloves. Teachers will have students conduct a tick check after the walk, but please check your child again at home. I'm looking forward to exploring outdoors with the children!
